Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille on July 14th, 1789, by the Parisian revolutionaries. The storming of the Bastille was the symbol of the victory of the French people against the Monarchy.
What started as a revolt became a French Revolution that brought radical social and political change and the emergence of the modern political world.

While I’m by no means a “Francophile,” I can appreciate the vast and stunningly enriching contributions the French have offered up to the world at large.
