Standing in the GAP!
Our lives are but a fleeting moment in the fabric of time. It is short and made of collections of memories, opportunities, and decisions. When we were young, we dreamed and thought that anything was possible. Dreaming of being doctors, lawyers, pilots, presidents, and famous artists, determined to make a difference in this world. However as we get older, the dreams begin to fade slowly from us as the obstacles of this world begin to way heavy on us, until we find ourselves years later in a job that pays the bills, lost in the day-to-day and settling, losing the zest for our dreams. Why does this happen to so many of us, becoming complacent?
The answer is, we let the obstacles of this world overwhelm us, discourage us, even defeat us from moving forward and overcoming! We lose faith because we can no longer envision the light at the end of the tunnel. These tribulations “appear” to be impossible but the keyword is “appear”. The reason so many believe it is “impossible” to overcome the situation at hand is due to the fact we are limited by our own logic and experience, therefore never having true clarity of the situation that lies before us. In all honesty it is very difficult for human beings to overcome the tunnel vision of their logic, experience and emotion in the midst of the situation and step back and take a moment to obtain clarity. I am not saying that the moment of clarity will resolve your situation at the snap of your fingers but it will allow you to keep your emotions in check and see your way clear. It is the decision not to give into “defeatist” mentality and stand in faith and hope; this is what it means to stand in the GAP.
It is not easy! But anything worth having is. It will take discipline, faith, and hope but know this, it is not impossible to overcome and achieve your dreams! We are so much more than our circumstances and there are individuals like Janine Shepard who are a walking testimony of overcoming the impossible.
