Why Not, Do It Yourself and Volunteer!
Why not change our thinking away from the expected entitlements from the government and adopt a mindset of taking positive actions ourself in order to maintain a reasonable quality of life. To sustain independence, we cannot expect the government to take care of us and make our world a better place. Why Not!
Why Not
If a person notices something that needs to be done, why not work with friends, neighbors and family to accomplish the task--why wait for the government to do something. I'm not saying going as far as practicing law enforcement and acting as a first responder. I'm saying if a public property is covered with litter or a wall is covered with tag symbols, then able body citizens should take the opportunity to fix it and not let it slip away into further disrepair. This embracing of responsibilty instills a greater sense of pride in one's community.
As government budgets get smaller and smaller, citizens cannot sit back and complain. They need to get involved and become a part of the solution in their community. This starts by being willing to serve as volunteers, asking questions and making time to improve the neighborhood, town and city. We all have a responsibilty and if steps are not seriously taken, the quality of life for our children will be depressing. Let's step up and get busy! Why Not
