What are 130,000 children in foster care waiting for?

Of the estimated 143 million orphans and abandoned children worldwide, roughly half reside in South and East Asia, according to UNICEF. An estimated 12 percent of all children in Africa will be orphaned by next year as a result of malaria, tuberculosis, pregnancy complications, HIV/AIDS and natural disasters, according to the World Health Organization.

• 293,000 children enter foster care each year.
• 496,000 children in foster care.
• 130,000 children in foster care waiting for permanent families.
• 42% of children waiting for adoption are ages 9 or older.
• The average age of a child in foster care waiting to be adopted is 8.2 years

This makes me feel so blessed that my parents didn't abandon me. i don't know what it feels like but i can imagine that it is a terrible thing for anyone to go through my prayers are with all of them.
