Honoring the veterans by creating the opportunity to give back the sense of Purpose, Self-worth and Community.
Jake Wood, co-founded Team Rubicon with the vision to create a new paradigm in disaster response that recognizes and harnesses the skills of military veterans; offering them a chance to continue their service by helping and empowering those afflicted by disasters, and also themselves. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps, deploying to Iraq in 2007 as an infantry squad leader and to Afghanistan in 2008 as a Scout-Sniper Assistant Team Leader.

Talk about re-purposing someone, that's a clever initiative. Instead of imposing a re-release into society, where skills once imperative may not be appreciated, what about harnessing the energy and re-purposing it back into the greater good.
