The Holidays are for Breaking Free

Yes, we do not have to be locked in the same pattern of shopping, going places and wearing silly red sweaters. Take a deep breath and be different. Spend some time in silence and think where you would get the most satisfaction during the holiday season. I know we all can't go to Maui. But for starters, we can help meet a need in the community. It's important to realize that there are others facing hard times who would enjoy your company more than those you see every year for the holiday "one-up" game. Giving the gift of listening and being there for someone who is alone and hurting far outweighs the value of a new thing. We all have the means to be a hero to someone in need.
